History

Hobart FM Incorporated was licensed in early 1977 under the auspices of the Tasmanian College of Advanced Education at Mt Nelson using the call sign 7CAE-FM. When the College  relocated to Launceston in 1980, Hobart FM Incorporated assumed full responsibility for the running of the station,  moved  to premises in Elizabeth Street,  Hobart and provided a lively and alternative radio service under the call sign 7THE FM (92FM).

In March of 1992 the station moved to its current premises at 17 Alma Street, Bellerive and adopted the name Hobart FM. It broadcasts on two frequencies --  92.1FM and 96.1FM -- in order to reach all parts of the city and its suburbs.
